Domperidone is a benzimidazole compound that has strong stomach-stimulating and antiemetic effects, can strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter tension, prevent gastric-esophageal reflux, enhance gastric motility, promote gastric emptying, and coordinate the stomach with the twelve-finger Intestinal exercise, inhibition of nausea, vomiting, and effective prevention of bile reflux, does not affect the secretion of gastric juice.

Gastrointestinal problems

There is some evidence that domperidone has antiemetic activity. Domperidone is used, together with metoclopramide, cyclizine, and 5HT3 receptor antagonists (such as granisetron) in the treatment of nausea and vomiting.

It can be used in patients with Parkinson's disease because, unlike metoclopramide, domperidone does not cross the blood–brain barrier.
