What is Monensin?
Monensin anticoccidiostat with wide spectrum belongs to ployether antibiotic, and is one of most typical veterinary of anticoccidiostat that is first used and most marketable in the world. Gram-positive and fungus on vegetable are sensitive to it.it can inhibits coccid’s growth and finally kill it, especially to eimeria tenella coccidial.

Monensin, also known as "rumensin", is a widely used feed additive in ruminants. It was originally secreted by streptonyces cinnamonesis and has a control in the rumen. The ratio of volatile fatty acids reduces the degradation of protein in the rumen, reduces the consumption of dry matter, improves the utilization of nutrients and improves the energy utilization rate of animals.

It is mainly used to control chicken, lamb, yak, rabbit coccidiosis and promote the growth of ruminants. Monensin can affect the ion balance of the worm, causing the rupture of the worm, and the coccidia develops to the first generation of schizont stage on the second day after infection. Monensin can also increase feed utilization and weight gain by increasing rumen propionic acid production. Monensin has a strong effect on Gram-positive bacteria (especially Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Bacillus subtilis) and Treponema pallidum, but it is weak in animals and should not be used for antibacterial use.
