What's CAS 446-86-6 Azathioprine Powder？

Azathioprine is used alone or in combination with other immunosuppressive therapy to prevent

rejection following organ transplantation, and to treat an array of autoimmune diseases, including

rheumatoid arthritis, pemphigus, systemic lupus erythematosus, Behçet's disease, and other forms

of vasculitis, autoimmune hepatitis, atopic dermatitis, myasthenia gravis, neuromyelitis optica

(Devic's disease), restrictive lung disease, and others. It is also an important therapy and steroid-

sparing agent for inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis)

and for multiple sclerosis.

Function & Application:

It is an immunosuppressive antimetabolite. Also active as disease modifying antirheumatic drug

(DMARD). Azathioprine is a purine analog with immunosuppressive effects. It is light yellow powder or

crystalline powder; odorless; slightly bitter taste. It is slightly soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble

in water, and easily soluble in dilute ammonia solution.


1.Immunosuppressive drugs. It is a derivative of mercaptopurine, which is decomposed into

mercaptopurine in vivo. It is mainly used to inhibit immune rejection in allograft transplantation,

mostly combined with corticosteroids. It is also widely used in rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus

erythematosus, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, active chronic hepatitis,

ulcerative colitis, myasthenia gravis, scleroderma and other autoimmune diseases.
