Sodium iodized thyroxine is a sodium salt of triiodine thyroxine (T3), which is 20 times more affinity with receptors than T4, and is the main active thyroid hormone. T4 plays a role when it enters the target cell and is converted into T3. Mechanism of action: T3 binds to the nucleotype receptor, which is activated to bind to a DNA-specific sequence that regulates the transcription and expression of the target gene of thyroid hormones, promoting the synthesis of new proteins, including special enzymes, to regulate the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, as well as water, salt and vitamins. Sodium iodized parathyroidate is absorbed completely by the gastrointestinal tract, orally absorbs about 90% to 95%, and the protein binding rate is more than 99%. The half-life is 33 hours. T3's biological activity is 3 to 4 times stronger than T4, its free type is 10 times that of T4, the effect is fast and strong, excretion is also fast, the maintenance time is short. Compared with T4, T3 has a lower binding rate with plasma protein, with about 0.3% present in free form. Under normal thyroid function, T3 has a half-life of about 1 to 2 days in the blood, slightly longer when thyroid function is reduced, and about 0.6 days when hyperthyroidism progresses. This product is rarely passed through the placenta and has very little milk secretion.
